中文說「最後」，可以指結果（最後我們決定了），也可以指位置或時間的終點（電影的最後、月底）。英文把這兩種分開，用的是 in the end 和 at the end of，先把它們當成兩個不同的片語哦。

in the end：講結果
in the end 後面通常不加東西，單獨放在句首、句中或句尾，意思和 finally、eventually 接近，表示「經過一番曲折之後，最後怎麼樣」：
He was nervous, but in the end, he passed the test. — 他很緊張，不過最後還是通過了考試。
I wanted to buy the red one, but in the end I bought the blue one. — 我本來想買紅色的，最後買了藍色的。
句子前面通常有一段過程，例如猶豫、努力、討論，in the end 就是那個過程的答案。
at the end of：講終點
at the end of 後面通常要接名詞，指的可以是位置，也可以是一段時間的最後：
Turn left at the end of the road. — 在路的盡頭左轉。
The movie was boring at the end. — 電影的結尾很無聊。
Please pay at the end of the month. — 請在月底付款。
At the end of the meeting, everyone clapped. — 會議結束時，大家鼓掌了。
如果前後文已經很清楚，of 後面的名詞可以省略，例如 I didn't like the ending, but the rest was great. 不過一般來說，at the end 後面都會跟著 of ＋名詞，寫作的時候先這樣用比較不容易錯哦！

at the end of the day 字面上是「在一天的結束」，也會用來當成比喻，表示「最後決定關鍵的事」，這樣用的時候通常放在句首哦。
有時候可以互換嗎？
in the end 和 finally 有時候可以互換，不過 finally 也可以用在「終於」的情緒、或是列舉的最後一項。in the end 就沒有這兩種用法。而 in the end 和 at the end 的差別，在於一個講結果，一個講位置或時間點，基本上不能互相替換。
