must、have to、should 這篇先給一個排序:must、have to 表示「必須」,語氣比 should 重;should 只是建議。
You should drink more water. —
You shouldn't stay up too late. —
must vs have to:都表示「必須」,但來源不同
I must finish this report tonight. —
I have to wear a uniform at work.
否定形完全不一樣:mustn't 是禁止,don't have to 是不需要
You mustn't smoke here.
You don't have to come if you're busy. —
I had to go to the hospital yesterday. —
I should have called her.(我早該打給她的)。
| have to | 必須(客觀規定) | don't have to(不需要) |
- Students ___ wear a uniform at this school. (have to)
- You ___ tell anyone about this. It's a secret. (mustn't)
- You ___ pay now, you can pay later. (don't have to)
- You ___ see a doctor if it still hurts. (should)
