這四個字翻成中文幾乎都是「說」，但放進句子裡，換錯一個就會聽起來怪怪的，哈哈。這篇不先講規則，我們先來看幾個「怪句子」，找一下它們哪裡怪。
先找找哪裡怪

看出規律了嗎？出問題的多半是兩件事：有沒有「聽的人」，還有搭配的詞是什麼。接下來一個一個看哦。
say：重點在「說出口的那些話」
say 關心的是話本身。後面可以直接接說的內容，如果要指出聽的人，要用 to：
She said hello to everyone. — 她跟大家打了招呼。
He said (that) he was busy. — 他說他很忙。
What did you say to him? — 你跟他說了什麼？
tell：通常要有「聽的人」
tell 後面通常直接接聽的人，再接內容，中間不需要 to：
She told me the news. — 她告訴了我那個消息。
Tell me your name. — 告訴我你的名字。
The teacher told us to open our books. — 老師叫我們打開書。
「tell + 人 + to + 動詞」是「叫某人做某事」，這個結構超常用，轉述別人的命令、請求時也是用這個句型，間接引語那篇有更多例子。
還有一些固定搭配，不管有沒有出現聽的人，用的都是 tell，不是 say：
He always tells the truth. — 他總是說實話。
Grandpa tells great stories. — 爺爺很會講故事。
Can you tell the time in English? — 你會看時鐘、用英文說出時間嗎？
speak：語言，還有比較正式的場合
speak 最常搭配語言，或是一個人在說話：
She speaks French and Japanese. — 她會說法文和日文。
Please speak more slowly. — 請說慢一點。
Can I speak to Mr. Lin, please? — 請問林先生在嗎？（電話裡）
talk：雙方在交談
talk 有「你一句我一句」的感覺，常搭 about（聊什麼）和 to／with（跟誰）：
We talked about the trip for an hour. — 我們聊旅行聊了一個小時。
Who are you talking to? — 你在跟誰說話？
speak 和 talk 很多時候可以互換，例如 speak to Amy 和 talk to Amy 意思差不多。一般來說 speak 聽起來稍微正式一點，talk 比較口語，但這只是傾向，不是硬規則哦。

一句話帶走
如果句子裡有明確的聽眾，先想 tell；如果只是把話說出口，先想 say；說語言用 speak；聊天交談用 talk。這個順序在大部分情況下都行得通哦。我自己當初都是先看句子裡有沒有一個「人」，再決定用哪個字。
